Member J.J. Hayes presented our Saturday morning lesson on Economic Empowerment. The lesson was intended to demonstrate a few best practices to be used in the immediate and future lives of our mentees regarding the value of money. In our communities, we are often (unfortunately) subjected to examples of economic irresponsibility such as frivolous spending, not knowing how to save and invest resources properly, etc., and our people are suffering as a result of it. The mentees watched a powerful documentary and were able to generate their own discussion about techniques to resist non-purposeful spending. They were also given a blueprint on how to build wealth for themselves and their communities through practice of group economics and prudent investing. We hope this insight makes a positive impact on their lives!

The powerful documentary by Jason Black, 7 A.M., was used as the framework for the forum.
