The Virginia Peninsula Chapter lead a community service project to support the Phoebus Community Gardens in Hampton, VA. The members and mentees of the 100 worked tirelessly without complaint to build five garden boxes and filled them with soil to support community gardening efforts. The Community Gardens work to improve people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy, and education. We would like to thank members Ken Rich and Lance Jones, Jr. for coordinating the event.
